The thyroid is a gland in the front of the throat. It controls metabolism and regulates hormones. 

Functions of the Thyroid

The thyroid produces three hormones:

Thyroxine or T4

Calcitonin

Triiodothyronine or T3

 

These hormones dictate your energy levels, growth, heart rate, weight, body temperature, and how heavily you breathe. 


With all these roles the thyroid plays, it is best to check your thyroid gland with a thyroid ultrasound.
